Francesco Biagioli

My fascination for volcanoes led me to attend a master’s degree in volcanology, with a predilection for geophysics. Therefore my research interests are currently focused on volcanic monitoring via geophysical methods and, in particular, via the recent fibre-optic based Distributed Acoustic Sensing (DAS) techniques. I’m working on DAS data recorded at Stromboli volcano since 2020.
B.Sc. in Geological Sciences at University of Florence, 2018. Thesis title: influence of gas-solid interactions on the propagation of acoustic waves.
M.Sc. in Geological Sciences at Technologies (Volcanology, Geothermy, Georesources) at University of Florence, 2021. Thesis title: Field testing of fibre-optic Distributed Acoustic Sensing (DAS) for volcanic monitoring.
Ph.D. in Earth Sciences at the Institut de Physique du Globe de Paris (IPGP) and University of Florence, 2021-2024. Thesis titleVolcanic hazard monitoring using Distributed Acoustic Sensing (DAS) at Stromboli vulcano.
