Vision

The Department of Earth Sciences (DST) bases its work on the inseparable connection between research and teaching, dynamically integrated with Knowledge Enhancement activities. The scientific activities are developed in the Scientific-Disciplinary Sectors of competence, homogeneous in terms of aims and methods, and are directly reflected in the educational offer, divided into several Courses of Study.

The Department's vision, in line with that of the University one, is aimed at consolidating an active role in the transformation of society and the territory, through the promotion of quality, innovation, and sustainability in all its institutional actions.

In the medium to long term, the Department intends to:

1. strengthen the attractiveness and quality of teaching, enhancing internationalization, interdisciplinarity and field activities;
2. promote competitive scientific research, oriented both to the understanding of natural processes and to the resolution of global environmental challenges;
3. intensify the impact of the Enhancement of Knowledge, through dialogue with schools, institutions, professional associations, and local authorities, contributing to the construction of a scientifically aware citizenship.

The DST thus aims to generate significant effects in the social, cultural and economic context of reference, enhancing human capital and scientific skills with a view to openness, innovation and responsibility.
