UNIFI calls and regulations

General Regulations («Decreto Rettorale, 4 luglio 2013, n. 670 - prot. n. 47910», in english)

 

  1. INTERNAL GUIDELINES FOR THE DOCTORAL COURSE

The person who benefits from University funding (UNIFI scholarships) or from individual institutions or researchers on specific topics, must spend a  of at least 3 months. PhDs funded through different scholarships may have different requirements. According to the Rector's Decree, the period abroad must not exceed 18 months.

  1. Educational Activity

The educational and training activity envisaged for each PhD student provides for the acquisition of credits (CFU) according to the following regulations. All teaching activities must be certified with a certificate of participation.

  1. Guidelines for the acquisition of training credits
  2. Short courses organized by the PhD Course (1 CFU for courses lasting 6 hours);
  3. Seminar activity recognized by the course (6 seminars: 1 CFU);
  4. Training activities in the use of complex laboratory instruments or development of new ones (1 CFU for 6 hours)
  5. Master's or PhD courses or other courses attended during the period abroad (1 CFU for courses lasting 6 hours);
  6. Workshops, courses, field trips during conferences, lasting at least 3 days (1 CFU);
  7. Advanced certified English courses with final exam or other foreign language (1 CFU every 6 hours, up to a maximum of 3 CFU);
  8. Any teaching activities, related to the research topic of the PhD student, which do not fall within those indicated above, will be evaluated by the Academic Board individually at the request of the PhD student, after consulting the tutors

During the 1st year it is recommended:

  1. the acquisition of at least 10 CFUs recognized by the PhD course (acquisition methods described above)

Durante il 2° anno si raccomanda:

  1. the acquisition of at least 10 CFUs recognized by the PhD course (acquisition methods described above);
  2. participation in at least one national conference by presenting an oral or poster presentation as first author;

Durante il 3° anno si richiede:

  1. the acquisition of all the remaining CFUs to reach the 30 CFUs needed by the PhD course (acquisition methods described above);
  2. participation in at least one international conference by presenting an oral or poster presentation as first author;
  3. at least one paper in press in an ISI journal on topics related to the doctoral thesis or the general research field of the thesis.

During the three years of the course, it is also required:

  1. 6 CFU of Transversal Teaching (Soft and Complementary Skills) included in the 30 CFU

 

  1. For "non-scholarship" and "supernumerary" PhD students, the research period abroad, when possible, is highly recommended.
