DESCRIPTION OF ACTIVITIES:

The activity carried out includes numerous applications of geochemical analysis concerning the study of natural systems

The activity of the laboratory includes various geochemistry applications in the study of natural (e.g., active volcanoes, hydrothermal and geothermal systems, surface water, groundwater) and anthropogenic (e.g. industrial plants, MSW landfills, mining sites) systems.

This activity is the result of decades experience in the development of techniques for sampling and analysis devoted to the determination of inorganic and organic components of fluids (water and gas) and rocks.

The laboratory staff is highly trained to carry out studies in the following fields of investigation:

- Geochemical surveillance of active and quiescent volcanoes

- Geochemistry of hydrothermal systems
- Geothermal prospecting in low, medium and high enthalpy systems
- Geochemistry of volcanic, tectonics and sedimentary lakes
- Fluid-rock interaction processes
- Quality of water resources
- Geochemistry of mining environments
- Air quality
- Geochemistry of Volatile Organic Compounds
- Geochemistry of MSW landfill sites
- Urban geochemistry
- Quality control of industrial gaseous products (technical, food and medical gases)

Our staff also offers the opportunity to provide the following services:
- In situ measurements of diffused gas flow from the soil (CO2, CH4, hydrocarbons and Hg0)
- In situ measurements of environmental tracers in air (CO2, CH4, H2S, SO2 and Hg0
